@wandererscoda Well the only reason I made the connection way back when I first fought it was because it's the modern version of Alexander they use in 9. Also many of the monsters in the surrounding dungeons belong to ff9 as well.

I've made a weird discovery I've not noticed til now:

Having replayed X-2 has made me realize that Echidna not only has a similar look to Paine's Full Throttle sphere, but when the snakes come out they have similar names to her wings...Dextral Wing, and Sinistral Wing
