I replayed my favorite Sonic game of all time and honestly? I think my nostalgia bias is starting to settle. I still think it's an AMAZING game, but it has clear flaws in its level design and boss fights that hold it back from being a true masterpiece.
RIVALS OF AETHER KICKS SO MUCH ASS
Crisp as fuck movement, engaging mechanics, an incredible roster of characters that I ADORE (ilu Elliana and Pomme). The Workshop Expansion that officially introduced fanmade characters into canon? So cool.

This collection is such a steal for $40. All four of the campaigns have something to talk about. Specter of Torment is still one of the sharpest 2D platformers I've ever played. I was really excited to replay this for my friends' Game Club and I'm glad it still holds up.
One of the blandest gaming experiences I've ever had. I don't remember anything remarkable, I feel like this game just coasts along from start to finish, all lumped with uncomfortable controls and bugs. I got softlocked twice by this game's AI.
