So here we are. I should say, art is still hard and forever will be lol, but something dramatic changed this year and the process feels completely different. I feel like a kid again ironically, drawing whatever I want to have fun. Except now i "know" how to make it look nice.
From complex poses to even painting my first human portrait! I also got introduced to DnD and fell in love. Humams were no longer terrifying for me. Even did some concept art practice with a human character! Tried a completely different painting processes too!
It was an odd feeling, but drawing and painting began to feel like it did back when I was a kid. As I grew it felt like I could finally really, draw whatever I wanted and had confidence that even though it was hard, I had the skills and knowledge to figure it out.
I began tackling difficult subject matters like clouds, mountains and human anatomy. I even branched out and drew some humanoid and human characters!
Its like all my years of studying and learning art fundements just came together.
It brought out a courage in me, I actually felt like I "knew what I was doing" and began to tackle previously intimidating subjects, like humans and exploring edge comtrol.
The process began to feel smoother and things began to make "sense". The art fundamentals began to click into place. Suddenly there was a kind of intention behind certain decisions rather than random strokes and thinking "that looks nice".
Here are some detailed studies of light
Above is a painting a did in Jan/Feb this year. What happened is difficult to explain through words and honestly I dont even know if the change is visible in my work.
Its more about the process amd feel. Something changed amd it started in these two pieces in around March/April
Well, what a year huh? Been rough... So no suprise it hasn't been a great year for me either.
But there were some bright spots. I got my first job and with a physcologist and psychiatrist am making strides to combat my anxiety.
But something amazing happened art wise too...
