This story -- in which Max falls in love, while all around unbeknownst to him are trans-dimensional, time travelling, and cosmic assassins vying for the chance to be the one to kill Max -- has some of @adityab 's best lettering of the series and of his career. (according to me)
From that same issue, I had this idea that our characters would be entering an altered piece of reality, and wanted the narration to reflect/signify this crossing of borders. The task was to create two narrative caption styles that echoed each other but were distinct. Perfection
Issue 2 is one of my favorites from the run. I am very interested in compression -- how much story you can put in a given space and still ground it in emotion - and I set us the task of telling a bunch of one page stories. I think this one was my favorite.
I think this panel, from @AstoneVittorio, is as beautiful and impressionistic as we have in the whole book. When he first sent this page, I stared at it endlessly.
