Today’s gun was a progression of anti infantryman munitions on a squad level. The M79 Grenade Launcher. Nicknamed “Thumper” by troops the 40mm launcher is available in a myriad of munitions including flechette. While replaced largely by the M203 the weapon is still used worldwide

Today’s gun is one that competed in trials for Japanese military adoption. The Tokyo Arsenal Model 1927. The submachine gun with a myriad of magazine options would ultimately fail at trials catastrophically and it is unknown if any surviving models exist.
