After my convo with @mattcrotts I decided I was going to start using a subtle blur effect on some pages where needed for motion & action. What do y'all think?
@mattcrotts Something like this isn't so extreme & cringy as your example. It's more subtle, conveys the motion & doesn't detract from the overall image & experience but gets the point across.
Can it be done in linework? Sure, DWJ does it in this example. They're both valid techniques.
Another way to play with focus without using a blur filter is the way Canete does with linework here. He fades/tapers off the details & lines into nothingness.
It serves to both push the reader’s focus into one area while including a distinct light source blowing out details.
Ending the night with some Sam Kieth art. I really love the minimalist layouts on these pages.
Why is it so incredibly hard to draw someone just walking? I need to steal the way the French draw it.
Just bought 4 issues of this crazy dope looking book by @KitWallis called Mr. Easta from @ScoutComics
Looks rad. Can’t wait to get them.
The artwork in GEAR by @DougTenNapel is crazy cool. Gestural & bouncy. Something I'm always trying to get in my work. I should get this book to study.
4 images I saved that inspire me to color & to improve. By @martegracia, second is unknown & the last two by @dyemooch
