Sharingone of my best preliminary graphite studies for a Magic: The Gathering card. The graphite allows for wonderfully expressive structures in form and shadows, very difficult to control, but the subtle textures achieved are a thrill to see emerge!

A new card illustration from Magic:The Gathering. I used a design aesthetic call 'chords' where elements take on similar properties to harmonize the piece. This worked wonderfully to meld the dryad into a visual conversation with its host tree.
