Now that the Robot Master Contest is over, I can share my entry - Yin Man and Yang Man.

I'm still happy with the concept but nowadays I could probably do better considering this is from like 4 months ago

To be serious for a moment, I think they "sorta" always had 4, though some of the artwork has robot masters do this pose where their middle fingers are merged. This is to create the illusion that they have 3 fingers and a thumb because the number 4 is seen as unlucky in Japan.
