Charles-Henri Sanson

Responsible for around 3000 executions, Charles-Henri was the fourth head of the family of executioners. He is responsible for the deaths of Louis XVI and Maximilien Robespierre. His son, Henri, was the the one who executed Marie Antoinette.

Jing Ke

Intending to kill the man later knowing as Qin Shi Huang, Jing Ke failed his assassination attempt and was stabbed 8-9 times by the future emperor. He never actually assassinated anyone. The reason for the gender flip is in Japanese “Jing Ke” is pronounced “Keika”.

Stheno

Much like her sister Euryale, there is little about her in myth other than her existence. She was known as a man killer, with a body count higher than her two sisters combined. She was likely a later edition to the pantheon.

Cú Chulainn

Cú Chulainn is one of the few heroic spirits that can be summoned in every normal Servant class. As a Caster he has knowledge of prior summonings and is aware of far more than is immediately obvious. His skills hint at someone far more powerful than he appears.

Lord El-Melloi II/Waver Velvet

Out of all the main characters in the Fate series, Waver (as his adult self) boasts appearances in nearly every single series to date and is a central character in three of them. His cigars are a mystic code to protect against assassins.

Mephistopheles

One of the most enigmatic members of the cast even now. Very little is known about him.

The legend of Faust has origins in the legend of Theophilus of Adana, which is the one of the earliest cases of gaining a demonic contract for self-gain.

Gilles de Rais

I did history last time, so for this time we’ll do trivia. Gilles’ voice actor, Satoshi Tsuruoka, took inspiration from kabuki enunciation to play the more deranged version of Gilles, hence Gilles’ theatrical lilt and showmanship in Fate/Zero.

Medea

A powerful witch usually depicted as a villain opposed to Jason. Fate was far from the first media to paint her in a more sympathetic light. It’s generally accepted that versions that favor Jason are pro-Athenian, whereas favoring Medea is pro-Colchis.

St. Martha

Famous for taming a dragon, in the Bible she is mentioned mostly as the more aggressive sister of Mary (not that Mary) and Lazarus, the man Jesus brought back from the dead. Many places are associated with her—from Nazareth to Spain.

Marie Antoinette

While pop culture has painted a cruel picture of her, she probably didn’t deserve to be slandered as much as she was. A major factor to her downfall was political writings called libelles which accused her of being sympathetic to her native Austria.
