Annnd everything else happens. Hajime regains his hope and Nagito is really happy about that. And with his luck, he gets to stay alongside Hajime.

Nagito tries his best to make Hajime happy, along the way realizing he has developed a crush. However Hajime rejects the 'confession' letter out of his own despair and irritation with Nagito. Later when Nagito sees he makes Hajime happy as a cat instead, he chooses to stay a cat.

Other students talking bad about Hajime, Nagito tests his luck to the limit. (Because of course he would.)

In this he just really wants Hajime to be happy/hopeful when he sees his friend (Hajime has no idea if they're friends tbh, he's confused about Nagito.-) upset.
