As some of us start #AcWriMo2019 today I thought I’d share some of the comics I put on my break slides for the first-year seminars on essays writing this term. Happy writing everyone!
#otd in 1588 Elizabeth I gave what is now known as the Tilbury's speech. It would become a key feature in her image as a warrior queen in centuries to come.
Try to find her in this painting entitled _Elizabeth I and the Spanish Armada_ attributed to Nicholas Hilliard
Logging marks has been utterly frustrating so far. Honestly, who thought it was a good idea to name an online system after a God of Death?! No good can come from that!
I have to give a lecture on the Napoleonic Wars tomorrow, so naturally I was reminded of this gem: using the memory of Elizabeth and the Armada to threaten Napoleon. He’s so scared, his hat flies of his head! #ArmadaAfterlives

When you’re writing a lecture on the Ancien Régime, but because you actually study the 17th century, you automatically start every year with ‘16’... Let’s hope I don’t slip up tomorrow
Can you give a lecture about Louis XIV and the shaping of the image of the Sun King without showing him dancing in the Ballet de la Nuit? Of course not, which is why I had this image on the break slide. Love this costume!
Finalising the references now... Least favourite part of this job...
