So far the best I have for "am I above or behind cover" seems best just dealt with some number tracking and communications between players at the table.

Would be nice to automate, but just like the ruler, I like to respect my players to truthfully track things as best they can.

You probably also noticed the oddness of that Balor's token shape.

Spent some time playing with options, but I like the idea of picking the white or black lines and lining those up to the grid to define which tile you're in.
