Seemed to CLASH with modern fantasy character types.
They had the combat style of "action girls" (favoring agility and fast strikes over tanky brutish strength) with the face of the "stock hero's journey protagonist" (who shouldn't be fighting physically at all) and I felt that-
I'm not just talking hypothetically, I'm talking from personal experience.
Around 2020, I was struggling with confidence in my own characters. I'm inspired by characters and designs that I love, yet those characters are often criticized by being Mary Sues and such. And my OCs-

Because those hairstyles aren't all that cool. At all. In Japan the hairstyle that's seen as popular and cool would be visual punk hair. Basically longish and with a flow.
