Additional note B: of course two handed weapons are going to be in the game, but they wouldn't be as slow and heavy as they're depicted in most games, they'd be powerful and quick. But maybe not quite as fast as one handers and rapiers and you can't hold anything else
Additional note A: While SAO was an MMO I think it would be best for this game to be a single player RPG as I feel it would make interactions with the NPCs better. Marriage and romance are an option in this game as well.
So if you read all of this I want to personally thank you because this was ridiculously long. And I hope you agree that we need a proper SAO game with these ideas! If you like it and agree with it please RT! If not please critique as necessary!
This is so the game can focus on awesome melee fights.
And as for Character DESIGN... Again is it any contest? Abec is the man for the job! And if not Abec Himself then take inspiration from his work please?! Of course you'd have to do Aincrad fashion, but also use the monsters as well! And one more thing...
Now for CHARACTER ARTSTYLE... I mean is it any contest? Either it'd be based on Abec's illustrations or on the 1st season of the anime. And not just with faces pasted on, but fully modeled like BoTW's models. Think BoTW models but with the proportions of SAO.
Abec uses cel shading in his illustrations and so does the anime while the scenery is still very pretty. this is necessary for our SAO game. Granted the shading in BoTW may be a bit... INTENSE... So I think it should be toned down and use less contrast.
AGAIN BOTW is the closest to SAO in terms of aesthetic. The lighting, the textures, it's not dead on but it's as close as anything has ever been. SAO has always looked incredible in their environments and use of color, to try for realism would be a sin.
