Light and shadow are important attributes to drawing.

Even if you're only using a two-value system (lights vs shadows) you'll be in better shape than randomly shading everywhere and hoping for the best.

Experimenting with drawing styles has it' place, especially if you're committing to one style for your project or body of work.

Playing with too many styles in a disorganized way will likely not net many followers. People just don't know what to expect from your art.

Struggling as an artist?

Don't: Focus exclusively on shortcomings
Do: Focus on what's really working

Don't: Try to please people with your work.
Do: Surprise and delight yourself.

Don't: Draw popular things for views.
Do: Ask yourself what you truly want to make.

Figure out as much as you can eat each stage of the process.

Otherwise you're looking at a mess down the line.

No pun intended.
