Before Chaney's "The Wolf Man (1941), there was the original Universal werewolf, Henry Hull in "The Werewolf of London" (1935) (Apparently forgotten by everyone but Warren Zevon.)

In the 1930s and '40s, the "horror stars" were mostly men. The female stars of horror movies tended to do one film, and move on. But after "The Wolf Man," Evelyn Ankers went on to play in a half dozen more fright films.
