#JohnHume..@markdurkan told me a lovely anecdote about former SDLP John Hume. From time to time when you didn’t get John’s point of view or you didn’t agree with him he would say “would you listen to yourself because I have to.’”

#Artist..artist Basil Blackshaw was one of the brightest people I knew but simplicity was his true colour. Asked “how are you doing Basil?” he would say “ah still sleeping under a tree, killing the odd rat and drinking a bottle of stout.” @colin_davidson @MaryFitzger @DanMulhall
