@Joshstrangehill Visualy they remind me of smth like Dušan Vukotić work, or like a polish tv cartoon, they did a lot of minimal design and abstraction, UPA-style
Maybe they like saw it on some film festival??
I remember watching this as a kid and not seeing the Sad Eyes Beast bc it was always in shadows, dark on dark and my TV was crap
So the movie made 0 sense to me, I thought half of it was shots of empty forest
@Huitzihuitl The art direction in the film is pretty cool too, I love how everything is lined
The color palette reminds me of works of Henry Darger

First short to really kick off the animated musical trend, which dominated the 70s. Funny enough, sometimes it was easier to make animated musical, rather then put one on the stage (bc the songs in animation were already established, and musicals were seen as evil and western)
