For some there'd be a bit of punching up and remodelling of the tonal values going from traditional scan to sell light source. A lot of this was non destructive and would be incorporated into comp as adjustment layers with effects on them, making it shinier.

You can see the styling for characters using blocks of colour to separate rather than line here, the idea being that it would help the lighting dominate the visuals
