In Sweden & parts of Finland, a mini-Halloween takes place on either the Thurs or Sat before Easter. Little girls dress up in rags & old clothes, too-big skirts & shawls & go door to door with a copper kettle looking for treats, in homage to the Easter Witch 🧙♀️

During some rare research I've just found out that a 'bugger' (a word I use on a regular basis) is in fact a goblinesque faerie that dwells in the astral world & is very dangerous to humans.
I'd been under the impression that it was just like a bloody nuisance.

Sacred pagan plant Misteltoe was considered so sacred that it had to be cut with a golden sickle.
Holly and other evergreens were also respected in the belief that, in winter, they provided refuge for woodland spirits until other trees regained their leaves.
