Happy birthday to one of my favorite artists, Garth Williams. So many of my favorite books from childhood were illustrated by him. He used his illustrations to try to "awaken something of importance ... humor, responsibility, respect for others, interest in the world at large!"

I think we could all use a fairy to ease our hearts in this world.
