- until 1923 that it was finally reclassified, as German paleontologist Friedrich von Huene had realized that the remains did not belong to Megalosaurus and decided to create a new genus for them, giving Erectopus the name that we now know it by! (2/2)

- it as such, but others have argued that it might instead be part of the theropod group called Megaraptora, which may or may not be allosauroids! Not much else is known about this dinosaur currently, as it's only known from some vertebrae and hip bones! (2/2)
