Densho was hired by a mysterious client who wanted him to infiltrate and spy on a small team of Planeswalkers that had started gathering. After successfully joining said group, however, Densho realized he kinda liked hanging out with them, so now he stays by his own volition

Densho is a Moonfolk, also known as Soratami, a race of humanoids with an affinity for blue magic. The things that set them apart from humans are that they have an innate ability to fly, their skin and hair is pale as the moon, and their ears are long and shaped like a rabbit's

CONTEXT TIME
Densho is from Kamigawa, a world that is split in two halves; The Material Realm known Utsushiyo and the Spirit Realm known as Kakuriyo. Spirits interact with the mortal races on the daily, and the mystical is fairly mundane on Kamigawa

Phyrexia is a faction of biomechanical monsters bent on turning flesh into metal. They were defeated in part by Mirrodin's creator, Karn, but drops of phyrexian oil managed to make their way into the Mirrodin's heart during its creation - Which was all they needed to rise again
