@RinneKakashi Chakra is required but it doesn't have to be an Otsutsuki. If an Otsutsuki is mandatory to be fed to the tree, then the tree wouldn't have bloomed twice. She awakened the Rinnesharingan by consuming the god tree.
@jdlovearisu It can absorb Senjutsu attacks, but not pure nature chakra. But there's a limit. Pain absorbed too much from Naruto, hence why he turned into stone. Madara also absorbed Naruto's Rasenshuriken. The person also needs experience with Senjutsu as well.
