This brings us to Modern Carol, and this is going to be heated anyway, but the Carol of this era is hard to talk about because she became a culture war icon for better or worse and everyone brought baggage so I will do MY BEST to talk about it.

This brings us back to Carol, Carol push mostly had to do with one simple thing, she was a character you could free up for solo, she was pushed in the 2000's as a very flawed heroine who wanted to be THE BIG superheroine but couldn't then....

One character to note who isn't often part of this conversation is Red Sonja, people often forget she was a Marvel creation in the 70's and has manged to get her own fanbase with various people parodying her. But alas she is part of the Conan brand so yeah.

He’s a character I like to make fun of but love because he’s a stupidly complicated character that lets me talk about fun deep marvel lore that goes to ridiculous places like alternate universes where the thing is a pirate.

The Cat herself was retooled as Tigra and became a slight horror superhero character before being bounced around to the Avengers....and ...

and there were others too Venus, Sungirl and Namora, but like the ones I went over various reasons kept them from lasting long so onto other characters and into late 50's silver age.....

THE FIRST MARVEL FEMALE lead, was an antiheroine the BLACK WIDOW....not that Black Widow. THIS golden age heroine was an agent of satan who would go after criminals to grow Satan's army....

and look Suprheroines never overcame males heroes during the 20th century for a couple reasons, I don't want to just say sexism, because there are interesting mechanics and other things to it that are not just that, but let's go over some of them.
