@RainbowSquidInk and the comic DID Well for a long time not gangbusters but it did have one a creative switch that caused fan to lose interest and so they moved on but the characters are beloved and that is why you tend to see them around in comics.
One of the reasons I'm doing this joke is that FOR Years this was a joke in the fandom with Reed Richards. In fact it named a tv trope. So I felt that the creators didn't really think about how this could be turned into a joke. If you've been a fan for a long time you would know.
