If it helps, there is hope: Kaiji S2 was accompanied by the live action film hype in 2011, so having the "Finale" and "Animal World 2" films might push studios to do S3, because they make mad money and could finance the anime.

Watching Kingsglaive and Brotherhood elevated the game a lot further for me, and I would even call them essential for the full experience and character development.
This may be not for everyone's taste, but if you do, watch them, and fully grasp the gravitas and depth of it all.
