Planning your holiday wardrobe? Here’s what your winter closet might have looked like 150 years ago: Godey’s Lady’s Book fashion plate, December 1867.
Our #CSA intern has been hard at work organizing our Special Collections- and making some gorgeous discoveries along the way! Here, a Jean Dessès design from the Abraham Silks look book, Summer 1959.
For this #StarWarsDay we're looking back at our 2005 joint exhibition with @Lucasfilm_Ltd "Dressing a Galaxy." It highlighted the work of #TrishaBiggar, who designed costumes for episodes I, II and III - see our Facebook album for more pictures! #MayThe4thBeWithYou
Thanks to all the artists who visited #ArtofCostumeDesign to sketch - we love seeing your creations!
Next on our 5 Days of #OscarNominees: Mark Bridges for #PhantomThread! To outfit famous method actor #DanielDayLewis, Bridges "created his wardrobe, and put it in his room as a closet. So he was able to walk in there and dress as he felt Reynolds would dress at any given time."
Congratulations to #MarkBridges, @BAFTA Best Costume Design winner for his work on the 1950s London couture film @Phantom_Thread! Our #ArtofCostumeDesign exhibition features #PhantomThread costumes, original sketches, and a behind-the-scenes interview with the designers.
@TheAutry, how about some new duds for 2018? We hope #GeneAutry himself would have enjoyed this 1949 McCall's pattern for Western style shirts! #MuseumGiftSwap
We invite you to join us on Saturday, December 9 for our Thierry Mugler: Alien to Angel exhibition Luncheon & Lecture day! More details and registration link on the blog: https://t.co/Io7MTehrGU
