It really bothers me when anyone tries to say "Pokemon stories were never good" when that's really not the case. Like...at ALL. XY had a great story imo with the AZ/Floette arc, BW had a phenomenal story, SM's story is perfection, and SwSh had a good story as well.

I love the symbolism behind Gladion + Type:Null. Gladion often restrained his emotions which perfectly matches up w/ how Type:Null is also restrained. They both grow as they open themselves up to friends. Type:Null evolves w/friendship in the same way Gladion's character develops
