Anyway, FMA Brotherhood came out that year and that takes gold, but Id like to bring attention to two runners up that might be an acquired taste but were both good imo: Tegami Bachi and Shangri La.

I can't recommend pupa if you dont have the stomach for an anime that's like 65% on screen onii chan cannibalism and 100% body horror but Hozuki no Reitetsu is hilarious and has a really nice visual style
