OTD in 1949, Sammy Johnson was born! 🎂

Sammy was born in Gateshead and was best known for voicing Sid the Sexist in the Viz animated series released on VHS and DVD. Sadly, Sammy passed away in 1998, but his work lives on. Legend!

OTD in 1835, George "Geordie" Ridley was born! 🎂

Geordie was a songwriter in the 19th century and is most famous for composing 'Blaydon Races' which is still sung today among North East sports fans. He has a blue plaque on the William IV pub in Gateshead. Legend! 🏆
