This oil painting looks remarkably different from when it first arrived in the studio. Underneath the heavy mask of dirt lay extensive craquelure. We have now finished clean & varnish removal over the very fine lines. No severely cracked parts or flaking paint which is good news.

Repair of a torn oil painting - after applying Japanese tissue to the tear for stability & to align the torn canvas, we focused on the back. We applied polyamide welding powder along the tear, gently heating with a hot spatula. Now for cleaning & re-touching #restoration #art
