That, and while this set of panels does still work without this idea in mind; I think the idea of Heavy King getting teased about the fight where he got shredded to bits by Mecha Sonic makes his reaction so much better.
I'm not exactly sure when I started having this headcanon, but Heavy King being grouped with the other doppelgangers and Eggman in the Seasons of Chaos comic felt a ton like how the characters were grouped up in Sonic R.
