It just hit me: "Matrix" was a in part a Trans allegory, and the original "The Little Mermaid" (written by a queer man) also had a lot of queer associations and themes of transformation.

2/ I mean, Disney sits on a lot of massive franchises and intellectual properties. And while they of course develop new franchises, they need to do something with their old ones in order to justify their never-ending copyrights and keep the cash flowing.
