#OTD 1677 The French army captured the town of Cambrai in the Spanish Netherlands, held by Spanish troops. This and other victories under Louis XIV expanded French borders northward.

Herrad of Landsberg was a 12th century Alsatian nun of Hohenburg Abbey & authored the pictorial encyclopedia Hortus deliciarum (The Garden of Delights). These illustrations are reproductions since the library of Strasbourg was destroyed during Franco-Prussian War. #WomensHistory
Since it's #BlackHistoryMonth, I wanted to highlight General Thomas-Alexandre Dumas Davy de la Pailleterie. He commanded 53,000 troops in the French Revolutionary Wars where he smashed the Austrians. At the Eisack River he beat an entire cavalry squadron singlehandedly!
