#OTD 19 August 1743 Jeanne Bécu, Comtesse du Barry was born. She became the last maîtresse-en-titre of Louis XV. She was executed by guillotine during the French Revolution due to accounts of treason—particularly being suspected of assisting émigrés flee from the Revolution.

#OTD 17 August 1828 Jules Bernard Luys was born. He became a neurologist who made important contributions to the fields of neuroanatomy and neuropsychiatry. Luys published the first photographic atlas on the brain and nervous system
