So great to listen to @egernerd’s paper ‘Sartorial Satire: Re-examining the Relationship of Dress and Satirical Prints’ for @NDENCAseminar season 3 tonight. A brilliant paper on the relationship between print and dress (and the methodological issues therein) in the long C18.
A delight to talk about Daniel Lambert at @humanatstanford this evening, alongside the brilliant @SaStrings and @LeDowningPeters. Huge thanks to the organisers of the Reframing Fashion Studies/Working Group in Literary and Visual Culture seminar series for inviting me!
I know I am legit like 25 years too late on this but I'm watching Stargate for the first time at the moment and DANIEL JACKSON HAS JUST DIED MID-SEASON??? WITH NO WARNING??
@ComicBomb Thanks! hmm yes there's rather a lot of this kind of comparison between Lambert (and also Edward Bright) and 'normal' people - in the image of Lambert and Bright you see people trying on Bright's waistcoat together, for example
Moser, who died on this day in 1816, is one of my favourite eighteenth-century artists. Not simply because I love still lives & flower painting (but I really do), but because she exemplifies so many of the problems that characterise the construction of a canon of British art. https://t.co/Pxy6MPCHyz
The @ECRS_Edinburgh poster is here and it looks great! Super excited for the first session.
