I've just come across this astounding (& v large) depiction of Hagia Sophia from the reign of Elizabeth I. An inscription reads: By me, Thomas Morgan, mariner, having been above XV years bond and thrall to the Turks gallies. It seems remarkable - anybody know anything more?
