Miko is demisexual/demiromantic. To her, it's ALL about the more intimate, emotional connections, otherwise, things REALLY do go over her head (unless you're overt, but don't do that)

Miko attended an upper-avg set of schools in her youth. She was a pretty average student - well, academically-speaking. Math was her weakest sub and while she's a good reader, her speech was always something she had trouble with in terms of reading aloud #raisondetrecomic

She still called and she tried to visit for important holidays as much as she could! But it's kinda hard to do some of that stuff far away. Voices, yeah, that's nice at least, but video calls end up awkward because Miko has to cover her eyes to avoid awkward lens flares...
