With Penance I went all out on the woodcut look with a lot of heavy lines and lots of darkness. It is moody and dramatic with the only colours being the stained-glass windows (that went in jewel tones) and generous amounts of blood.

Beyond all the gross politics of the conservative art comparisons they all seem to miss just how fun it is to stylize things. My art journey over the last decade has basically been nothing but me going "less rendering, more LINES!"
