Postcard showing the Battlefield Memorial depicted, postmarked 1903.

Designed by architect Alexander Skirving and sculpted by James Young the column commemorates the Battle of Langside in 1568.

Battlefield Memorial and the former Langside Hill Free Church depicted on a colourised postcard, postmarked 1903. Both the church and 16 metre high column were designed by architect Alexander Skirving (who worked with Alexander ‘Greek’ Thomson). Ref: P9711

Although this looks like a Pogues album cover, it’s actually a team of workers at Charles Connell & Co, c1930 (ref: TD1609/24/9)

The Duchess of Argyll docked with the Atalanta and Fusilier nearby, from a collection from Glasgow shipowners Thomas Law & Co (Shire Line). The company's passenger cargo ships sailed principally to Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific. Ref: TD1407/3/1
