Speaking of Daikatana, it ended up being a really good volume. It started slow and had that weird second person narrative but it got better the more I read. And unlike the first volume of the main story, things got "dark" at the end of the volume not the beginning.
Personally my favourite Goblin Slayer arcs are Vol 8, Year One Vol 2 and Vol 9 and the funny coincidence is that they were released consecutively in 2018 when the anime was airing (vol 8 in october, YO Vol 2 in november and Vol 9 in december).
