A little late, but thanks for helping reach 4000 lads and dads! To commemorate I decided to try and draw Gum from Jet Set Radio! I don't talk about it much, but JSR had a certain energy to it that motivated me to want to create more back when I was in school.

I have a real bad habit of making drawings that are really tall... Anyway I drew Yelena (No Glasses) for some more coloring practice. I changed the color of her jacket as well!

Then I make an all white layer over that put a mask on it and start erasing to color. That way I can make brush strokes where I want and not worry about the color cause it’s already there. And because there’s a base color layer I can make adjustments when needed anytime.

So lately the way I’ve been coloring is I basically finish the line art and then color everything a little more saturated than usual.

So here’s the early design for a character I’ve thought about for awhile. I always wanna come up with the head before anything else so no outfit or anything yet.

I feel like he’s missing something. Some kind of bangs maybe? I’ll figure it out… I think
