Everyone has a different method of working. I do a line drawing on layout paper then using a light box, paint directly onto watercolor paper laid over the top. I build up layers of paint & finish with gouache. This will take a few more days to complete.
A fitting illustration to be working on. Melbourne, you are very wet. #wip #picturebook
I did a fun workshop at Kami Paper in Brunswick and this is my first attempt at seal carving. In China seals or chops are the artist’s signature. I like how each impression you make on paper is different. I think I’ll be using this on future art prints.
I’m off to Brisbane on Sunday for some school visits and the Readers Cup Finals. The BOM is telling me it will be 28C on Monday and 29C on Tuesday. Is this true? It sounds like heaven to this summer loving Melburnian!
How lovely to already have a school booking for Book Week 2020.
As the little one slept a deer came out of the forest. I’m not sure what this illustration is about but my muse, whoever she may be, does. 🌿
I was going through my 2017 sketchbook and happened upon this drawing which I did while in my mum’s hospital room in the last few days of her life. As she lay there so peacefully I saw her, not at the end of her life but as a beautiful soul about to be reborn.
