No one knows how Bravely Default started out as a Final Fantasy spin off with Final Fantasy in the name but dropped it with the 2nd game (Bravely Default) to avoid confusion.

I'm using a handful of examples here but you can tell that they had a clear style in mind vs making it realistic for the sake of graphics. IDK how to explain this but I think this game looks a lot better than people give it credit for.
