Day 33: Kyoko Okazaki
Voice of the bubble-era, her works show the frivolity and disconnect of a society born into excess. Dark and twisted and a direct mirror to society, her manga are both a product of the time, and ageless.
Day 22: Jun Mochizuki
Fantastical and intricate, her series are like twisted fairytales bathed in steampunk. Her stories tend to build up slowly, but always give payoff with levity and emotion. Check out her books from @yenpress
Day 3: Moto Hagio
An absolute queen of 70s shojo, I only wish we had more of her scifi available in English. Her manga persist as some of the most interesting and influential, and I cannot wait for the upcoming release of The Poe Clan by @fantagraphics & @rachel_thorn_en
You know what anime license I'd love to see? Aoi Bungaku.
It adapts classic japanese literature in multi-episode arcs, including: No Longer Human; Run, Melos!; and The Spider's Thread.
It also has character designs from Takeshi Obata, Tite Kubo & Takeshi Konomi.
