The young bar-tailed #godwit 4RBBB may have had smooth sailing for 95% of the trip, she is not met with hospitality upon arrival to the #YellowSea. Now battered by 40-50 km/hour headwinds, she may be considering landfall on Jeju Island, South Korea.
Go, godwit!

Bar-tailed #godwit 4RBBB is now about 1,800 km from Yellow Sea & it is looking good. She was fat on 2 March! The 2.5-year-old PTT was a bit quiet at first, but it has now shaken off the rust. Winds are looking quite good for smooth approach to the #YellowSea!

Over past week, the red #knots tagged by Team vanGils of @NIOZnieuws encountered fierce headwinds during attempts to migrate from Banc d'Arguin to #WaddenSea. Teichott makes stop in Portugal, Twimitirt on Sahara coast, whilst Touffat & Timiris returned south. Will they try again?

Bar-tailed #godwit 4BBYB departed Yalu Jiang yesterday, amid uncontroversial local winds. There is a system east of Japan & it looks her plan is to go north over the top, rather than the much more fun southerly slingshot.

TRICKY CROSSING OF NORTH ATLANTIC!
The #whimbrel called Formosa, coming from #Bijagós in Guinea-Bissau, having staged in north Wales, now tries #migration to Iceland but faces fierce northeasterly winds enforcing westward drift.

What's happening at Banc d'Arguin?
Although none of the tagged red #knots has visibly departed so far, during a late afternoon at Abelgh Eiznaya, Team van Gils witnessed northward departures of several wader species, including red knots.

Just after FULL MOON means spring (or King) tides! Such tides are fast, so Team van Gils @PNBancarguin, after successful observations of satellite-tagged red #knots, needs to wade a lot to get back to boat and the Mauritanian tea!

Despite consistent headwinds, #whimbrel Ékéké already covered the first 2000 km after departure from Bijagós archipelago in Guinea-Bissau, now passing Canary Islands. She is entering more helpful wind systems en route to Iceland. Curious? Keep an eye at: https://t.co/1PU2SPD0Z9 https://t.co/l9htXwN5qo

It is so amazing that bar-tailed #godwit 4BWRB keeps such a straight course over featureless ocean to #YellowSea. Since his departure, he flew in strong cross-winds (up to 50 km/hr) from east & northeast. Almost out of it now. Note every dot=measured location.

Very nice local conditions for departure from Kuskokwim are developing over the next 10 hours, and eroding in less than a day after that. Does this make the bar-tailed #godwits in #Alaska impatient? Find out at: https://t.co/h0yuMmdZNa
