Y5 have used the work of #HenriRousseau as inspiration, during our #watercolour development session. We have learnt how to select and mix appropriate colours and have considered different brush strokes. How do you use the same brush to create thick and thin marks? #KS2painting
Year 5 have created these portraits inspired by the Ancient Egyptians and the work of contemporary artist Alaa Awad @alaafarid222 We have used oil pastels on brown sugar paper and have practised blending oil pastels.
After an empathetic conversation about the war in Ukraine, Year 5 have been inspired by @george_butler illustrations, from the book Drawn Across Borders. We have considered elements of perspective and drawn people queuing for water using felt pen and water. @accessart
Year 3 have used an app called Brushes Redux to create background landscapes for their textile birds. We then photographed the birds in front of their new habitat. Cross curricular craft, digital, science. @WovenInKirklees @Textilesinplace @nataliewalton78 @CraftsCouncilUK
Y3 have learnt the difference between a tint, tone and shade and then applied this to their work. We also learnt how to wash a brush carefully when swapping from one colour to another. What is a silhouette and how does it differ from a shadow? What does the word hue mean?
KS2 art club have created their own rag wreath over the past few weeks. They look very festive displayed next to the Nutcracker and our Christmas mannequin. It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas.
Y3 have used Brushes Redux to create these volcano images, this morning. “I enjoy making art on the iPads because my paintbrushes and paints are all in one place”
From sketchbooks to digital.
After exploring a range of media in our sketchbooks, we are now using Brushes Redux on the iPads to create volcano pictures inspired by Andy Warhol. What do you notice about our colour choices?
Y5 have been inspired by the work of Maurizio Anzeri. After being inspired by the way he sews into vintage photographs, we started our own pieces. We’re excited to see how these develop. @saatchi_gallery @WovenInKirklees @Textilesinplace
Y2 have been to the art room this morning to develop their colour mixing skills.
What do you already know about colour? How do colours mix together? What will you discover?
Why do we learn this?
How would you illustrate the Big Bad Wolf? Can you use your brush to create fur?
