By using small pops of white, you condense the greys all together into a single wash. The eyes fall into the patterns instead of the small specks. But they come back so as to make an eye Pacer-test.

Expressively, contrasts can be then alternating the colours within themselves. Repetitive scoring creates ambient occlusion which is then followed by the illusion of colour

Colour Theory begins at black and white. Then Grayscale. You cannot understand colour until you first understand contrast.
