This exhibition had originally planned to be shown in Guildhall Library over the summer which had to be postponed due to covid closure. Instead we are pleased to be able to present here a brand-new exhibition never seen before. 4/5

Mayhew interviewed many working class and poor people in London. He then reprinted these interviews verbatim in the book. In many ways he tried to capture people’s own stories in the way that historians use oral histories today. 2/6
